A Powerful Learning Community, Serious About Sobriety

Jordan is a senior at PEASE Academy in Minneapolis, a sober high school. He talks about how his life has changed since coming to the school, the positive things students are involved with and the importance of having peer support.

Jordan was helping out at a pancake breakfast fundraiser at the school, which meets at a church building near the University of Minnesota. PEASE traces its roots to 1989.

Since 1989, PEASE Academy has been providing students with a refuge from social pressures and a doorway to incredible opportunity. As the nation’s oldest recovery high school, we not only celebrate our long history- but we look forward to a strong future- one that continues to provide a quality educational experience that is centered on healing and hope.

P.E.A.S.E. Academy Counselor Gets Real to Help Heal

Counselor Rufus Brown is a listener to the “hurting soul,” one who can help those recovering from drug addiction because he’s lived through it too. There are many voices among the 50 to 60 students at P.E.A.S.E. Academy, the recovery high school where he is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor, and Brown offers an open door to all of them. Weekly sober support groups give a chance to talk
